Down and Out

Greetings to our wonderful clients and blog stalkers. Some of you have probably been trying to reach us via phone or email over the past few days, and haven't been successful. We have a good reason....I promise. Actually, it's a sucky, crappy, icky reason, but a good one.

I write this from my bed where I have been for the last 3 days with the flu. Not a nasty cold or a stomach bug, the actual influenza. It bites. Jason has been out of town for the past 5 days, and I have been here with a 103 degree fever, body aches, chills, congestion, cough, headache, etc, etc, taking care of the little monsters just trying to make it through each day. Thank God for mommies, as mine came in yesterday to take over with the kids so I could finally rest peacefully. As peacefully as possible whilst hacking up gross yellow stuff. I know, totally TMI. I'm just trying to paint an accurate picture here, people.

Anyway, the J-man is back and is now on Daddy duty while I continue to recover. Hopefully I will feel up to getting connected long enough tomorrow to return emails, and Jay can return phone calls.

Thank you for your patience, and hopefully not too may of you have been afflicted with this nasty virus.

I can't wait for spring.

UPDATE: I now have been blessed with a sinus infection on top of the flu. Have I been cursed?

"Who are you" - Danny Weiss

My Name –

 www.dannyweissphoto.com THE BIG APPLE

A vendor(s) that we should know about–

www.ohsofab.com - A great team of wedding designers that I have not doubt will reach the national level soon

 My favorite place to be:

At the beach in the summer right about 7pm when everyone has left and the sun is setting. I am probably wearing a sweatshirt having spent all day there. My son is digging yet another hole in the sand and my wife and I are watching in utter astonishment of this amazing little creation of ours.

 When I am bored you’ll find me…

could not tell you the last time I was bored.

You should check out

this amazing book The Tortilla Curtain By T C Boyle. It’s an eye opening, thought provoking, beautifully written book that has stayed with me for years.

One or two websites you should check out-

www.marktucker.com AMAZING lifestyle images. I love the Jack Daniels series.

 Something you cannot live without–

My Son’s laugh

 Music that I listen to–

Springsteen, The Strokes, Wilco, White Stripes, Ray LaMontagne, U2, Did I mention Springsteen?

3 things I must do before I get old–

Do the Hawaii Ironman, Jump out of a plane, Take my family on an African Safari

What would your friends or family say about you–

I am very passionate, very persistent and I eat all the ice cream without sharing…

What’s in my bag

Just a bunch of cameras and lenses. Same as everybody else.

The piece of equipment I can't part with

Well a Camera helps J

 Perfect Client–

Has 100% trust in me and someone who allows themselves to be truly seen

The part of my business that leaves me tired-

A dance a lot, while taking pictures during the reception, that usually does it..

The part of the business that I love-

I love the gushy, over the top compliments I get after a couple sees their wedding images. Flattery will really get you far.

In truth, I do love that, but mostly it’s the opportunity to document, in a creative fashion this day that means so much to so many people. I get to be a part of so many peoples family history. It’s truly (and this is not bull) an honor.

If not a photographer I would have been-

 Full Time Beach Lifeguard

On a Friday night at 8 PM you'll find me-

Reading my son a story.

 Something I'm proud of-

That I get to do something that I love.  That after ten years of following another passion - acting professionally - i was able to transition into an equally exciting and way more rewarding creative field.  That I get to do this on my own terms and I am hired and trusted by these absolutely amazing clients to be there for such a special day.

Thirst Relief International - Mentoring session!

www.thirstrelief.org
Thirst Relief International together with you – saving lives, changing the world.

*Mentoring sessions will go up for bid on an auction at
http://www.fotoverite.com/joomla/index.php . The site will have a Thirst Relief banner that people can click on that will take them directly to the auction site.

*The auctions will not be visible until they go live on February 9th at 10am EST. Please let bidders know that all times listed through out the auction are based on Eastern Standard Time.

*The auction site will have your mentoring session posted with details about your session. Bidders will need to register in order to place a bid on your mentoring session. Each mentoring auction has a different ending time. However, when the auction is supposed to close, if there is a bidding war happening over your mentoring session then the auction will stay open until the bidding war ends. This is a very important feature of the auction and it is vital that bidders know.

*The auction will take place for three days from February 9-February 12th. Auctions will end on the 12th (unless your mentoring session is having a bidding war…in which case your auction will end when people stop bidding). Bidders need to read the entire auction, including payment information very carefully. Auctions will end at different times, your bidders will want to make sure they know when yours ends.

*Once the auction ends you and the person that won your auction will be responsible for getting in touch with one another to schedule your mentoring time.

*Mentoring sessions are an opportunity for you to review the winner’s website, talk with them about their marketing, pricing, critique their work, or help them in any way that you can.

*Thirst Relief would appreciate it deeply if you would encourage photographers to become active in the cause of Thirst Relief by becoming a monthly $5 donor. Five dollars saves a life. It would be an amazing gift and a visionary movement if every photographer helped save one life a month for one year.
